We welcome you to A Circle of Women. It is our hope that you will join our Circle and continue the process of building leadership and peace for yourself, your families, your communities, and our world.
So let's talk about leadership. Not just any kind of leadership but enlightened female leadership and bringing a unifying voice of women to support the issues that they feel are imperative and need a strong supporting voice.
What are these issues? Peace, the Environment, Hunger, Homelessness, Abuse of Women and Children, Economic Opportunities for women worldwide, Healthcare, Safe Schools, Quality Education for all of our children, Gun control, Abolishing genocide and ethnic cleansing, Respect for culture, and More women in positions of decision making. For far too long, these quality of life issues have taken a back seat to war, capitalism, consumerism, and the accumulation of wealth. If we want a peaceful world, we must understand that peace is joined at the hip with social justice. You cannot have one without the other.
Peace begins within each of us. It does not just happen to us. We create peace from our core values, beliefs, our attitudes, our behavior, our voices, our actions.
How many of you believe that peace is possible? Let me share a secret. You must believe, dream, and hold a vision for peace. These are the first steps or it cannot happen. Everything starts with an idea, a dream, and you can begin to make it real. Women are the dreamers; we must hold the dreams of peace and hope for our children until they can hold these dreams for themselves. It is part of our sacred duty as women. Why? Because we are the lifegivers, we birth the nations, and we give birth to the future. Therefore, it is our responsibility to protect the well-being of all life now, and for the generations that are coming.
Today we are challenged to create a new paradigm for a better world. This better world needs good leaders and women need to play a major role in making sure that this change takes place in our generation. Providing good leadership and working towards peace is the calling of our generation. Let us do this for those who came before us and could not; and let us do this for those who will come after us.
We welcome you to join the conversation, the possibilities, and the commitment to find the peacemaker and leader in you!
